Langtang & Mustang Trekking 2017
Mountain Culture Tours are GREAT! I just came back from a trek using this company and was so delighted. Not only did they provide knowledgeable and very caring guides but we also had so much fun and also Jay Tamang, the owner of the company has been so helpful and accommodating. He designed the trek to my own personal needs and ideas. I am HIGHLY recommending them!! Katrin Santosha Hintermeier
Langtang Trekking 2019,
"I had a most wonderful and unique experience traveling to Nepal with Jay Tamang of Mountain Culture Tours. Jay put together a very special, personalized and carefully crafted experience, which included wonderful cultural exchanges as well as a beautiful trek. Jay's knowledge, as well as his love and connection to his native Nepal and it's people, his attention to detail, his personal past experiences both as a trekking guide and in running a trekking company, as well as his current connections to guides and people, all came together in a carefully curated itinerary that made this a rewarding and very, very special experience-- donde bat, Jay!" Langtang Trekking 2019
Last year, I spent two unforgettable weeks in Nepal over my spring break and the week after. During this incredible trip we toured the vivacious city of Kathmandu, trekked through the Langtang valley, and visited many of Nepal’s beautiful countryside villages.
Our hotel in Kathmandu was well located and very comfortable. Their breakfasts were very good and prepared me for the day ahead. The rooms were clean and well furnished, with a safe in the closet for valuables. The Hotel was a great place to stay while touring Kathmandu and a relaxing location after many days in the countryside.
Our tour of Kathmandu was fascinating and I felt that we visited a good mix of touristy and authentic locations. Despite the chaotic Kathmandu roads, I felt very safe and confident in our drivers.
After staying in Kathmandu and visiting various sites in the city, it was time to drive to our next destination: the Langtang Valley. This long and arduous drive was made easier by the reliable cars and skilled drivers, who delivered us to our destination in safety, as well as awe of the beautiful Nepalese landscape.
Before setting off on our trek, we stayed in a hotel and the base of the Langtang Valley. This hotel was newly renovated and a great place to stay. I’m very glad that we stopped at this establishment on our way to and from our trek. After one night in this hotel, we began the trek.
There are many moments in life that pass by fast and are forgotten faster. This trek is not one of them. From the colorful vegetation and the amazing wildlife of the lower part of the Langtang valley to the stark peaks near Kyanjin Ri, every part of this trek was full of awe inspiring beauty. Staying in simple lodges with jaw dropping nature all around was a truly unique adventure, and one which I believe everyone should experience. Despite there being a variety of skill levels and physical abilities, Jay did a great job of keeping everyone together and at a comfortable pace.
As our trip was wrapping up, we experienced an unfortunate occurrence. Due to a typhoon, the plane that was supposed to take us from KTM to HKG was unable to reach Kathmandu. However, despite the flight being delayed until the next day, we were able to arrange a great hotel through the airline, and still make our connection to SFO.
To close, I would like to express just how important this trip was to me. It was a remarkable experience which portrayed the striking difference between the cultures and countries of the world more than any other trip I have been on. The rich Nepalese culture and warm memories of the adventures we enjoyed will be remembered for a long time to come. Luca
Nepal Trip 2019
My daughter (age 23) and her friend recently traveled to Nepal together. On the spur of the moment, they decided they wanted to go outside of Kathmandu to visit Pokhara, a day's drive away. Through Jay's extensive professional, family, and friend connections in Nepal the trip was put together in two days, and they were all set to leave early one morning.
Unfortunately, the night before the trip, my daughter got very sick. So sick, the tour guide recommended to Jay and myself that they take her to the hospital. There, she received two transfusions for dehydration, and was told to rest up for a couple of days before rescheduling the trip. I was assured throughout this ordeal that my daughter would be fine, and that Mountain Culture Tours would take care of everything. I can't describe or thank them enough for the peace of mind this brought me.
Any trekking organization can make travel arrangements to see the best sights, but not every agency can be trusted when things go wrong. I highly recommend Mountain Culture Tours to anyone and everyone planning a trip to Nepal - they are the best on the planet, hands down! Elaine Vaughan
